2. 大野晋「ウェブにおける歴史地図ブラウジングのためのツールキットOjikitの開発」
An Open Source Toolkit for Flexible Browsing of Historical Maps on the Web

Map browsing on the web is now commonly used, and most people have used map services such as Goole Maps, Google Earth, and Yahoo! Maps. These services also provide developer API, which makes it easy to integrate map services into the website. Map browsing in practical use is covered with those services, but displaying historical maps as exhibits is not, which requires different approaches.
 We, three members of Web Technology Research Group of the Digital Humanities Center of Japanese Arts and Cultures, Ritsumeikan University have developed an image viewer, which can handle zooming,
panning, and rotating. Although there exist many similar toolkits, none has all three features with JavaScript written. Furthermore, we would like to share it as open source library.  This paper starts with elucidating Japanese historical maps, their unique features and needs. After that, it discusses our image viewer, its design and implementation to meet their needs.

 In recent years, people tend to be overwhelmed by a vast amount of information in various contexts. Therefore, more than understandable are arguments about "Information Visualization" as a method to make information easy to understand. This presentation will argue the method of visualization of vast amount of information using 3D viewer in the KACHINA CUBE(KC)system. KC can visualize various information using a “cube”. Moreover I will introduce KC’s new design and function. Especially I'd like to focas on the CSA(Cubic Search Architecture). CSA is a visual search-engine of KC

3. 岡本隆明 Text-Image linking of Japanese historical documents: Sharing and exchanging data by using text-embedded image file
At dh2009, I had similar presentation titled “Text and Pictures in Japanese Historical Documents”. In that presentation, I already explained about the importance to link text data and image data of the documents and about computer system to facilitate searching characters in historical documents. But it was not yet clear that who should create such data or how such data can be shared.
This year, I will show the more simple tool. The person to create text-image linking data is researcher himself, so that the tool must be able to work in stand-alone environment like researcher’s own computer, so that simple tool is needed. And I will also show the way to exchange and share the data via text-embedded image file. The data one researcher can create is very limited in amount, so that sharing data is important. And the way to exchange or share the data must be simple to fit the situation.
