国際シンポジウム「Kuniyoshi's Immaginations」
3月17日より始まった国芳展（於：ロイヤルアカデミー・オブ・アーツ）にあわせた形で大英博物館主催の国際シンポジウム「Kuniyoshi's Immaginations」が開催されました。
日本文化研究班からは松葉・齊藤の2名が参加しました。

シンポジウムは26日27日の二日間にわたって開催されました。初日は歌川国芳について彼の活躍した時代背景なども含めての概要や国芳の途方もないイマジネーションの例を挙げ、どこから創作のヒントを得ていたのか、当時彼自身が参考にしていたと考えられる読み本の勝川春亭の挿絵から、その創作過程を探る試みがされた。一方当拠点のメンバーであるJohn Carpenter教授は自身の専門である摺物から発見した別の視点から国芳像をとらえて論じるなど、シンポジウムの主旨は日本文化の専門家がそれぞれの分野から、多角的な視点で、この幕末に活躍した奇才を検証しようというものでした。
