A narrow strip of land between the Mediterranean Sea to the north and Lake Mareotis to the south was an excellent strategic site for a Hippodamic (crisscross) pattern city accords to the requirements of the new conquers, Greek in 332 BC. Since that until 19th Cent., war, economic and natural hazard, add to shifting of the religious beliefs; contribute to change the urban topography of Alexandria. The dynamic history affected on the contemporary city that has survived cultural and modern heritage above 2-10m of multi-archeological layers beneath.
Sustainability of updated information and historic map via remote sensing, GPR and GIS to spatial and delineate the topographic features, urban expansions and historical transformations in Alexandria. In this context, investigating and critic the technical accuracy of the chosen historic maps based on the survived historical land marks lead to interpret the potential demolished ancient Alexandria. Furthermore, GPR approach used for detecting the archaeological layers impact that causes widespread terrestrial subsidence as major obstacles for developing the contemporary city and threats its cultural heritage, as well. In order to that, using advanced multi-purposes applications (remote sensing, GPR and GIS) for delineating Alexandria through its successive historical eras provide informatics database supports the national sustainable development strategy of 2030, mainly the capacity of the urban area, roads, traffic and transportation, add to the tourism industry.
