| 1. | Andrew Gordon： "Building a Digital Archive of the Great Eastern Japan Disaster: Potential and Challenges of Crisis Archiving" |
| The first half of the talk will describe the structure and functions of the archive, with either a live or screen shot demonstration. I will discuss issues we face in collecting materials and making them accessible, as well as issues in the design of the user interface. The second half of the talk will offer my initial speculations on the topics or issues for which this archive is likely to most valuable, as well as those issues or topics for which this (or any) digital archive might have limited value. It is important both to understand the huge potential of digital archives and digital humanities, as well not to oversell it. |
