Prof. Hongbin Zha

Professor at the Key Lab on Machine Perception (MOE), Peking University. Hongbin Zha received PhD degree in electrical engineering from Kyushu University, Japan, in 1990. After working as a research associate at Kyushu Institute of Technology, he joined Kyushu University in 1991 as an associate professor. He was also a visiting professor in the Centre for Vision, Speech, and Signal Processing, Surrey University, Unite Kingdom, in 1999. Since 2000, he has been a professor at the Key Lab on Machine Perception (MOE), Peking University, China.

Joe Earle

Vice-President, and Director, Japan Society Gallery at Japan Society. has worked for more than 30 years in the field of Asian and Japanese arts and cultures. He is a graduate of Oxford University, where he majored in Chinese language and literature. In 1974 he joined the newly-formed Far Eastern Department of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and began to specialize in Japanese art, creating exhibitions on contemporary lacquer, ceramics and design as well as serving as consultant to the Royal Academy’s groundbreaking Great Japan Exhibition (1981-82).

Kōji Tanabe

Chair, Kyoto Culture Association (NPO)    Born in Kyoto in 1971. He was involved in the research and development of VFZ (Vector Format for Zooming) Museum Archive Format in cooperation with Digital Publishing Japan (Current Celartem Technology, Inc. JASDAQ Exchange) and C2RMF (Centre de Recherche et de Restrauration des Musées de France) in 1999. Also in that year, he established Solution, Inc., concluded an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) contract for the VFZ image format, and started a digital archive and content business.

Prof. Jieh Hsiang

Distinguished Professor, and Director, Research Center for Digital Humanities, National Taiwan University. Jieh Hsiang received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1982 and taught at SUNY Stony Brook until 1998. He joint the Department of Computer Science of the National Taiwan University in 1993 and is currently a Distinguished Professor. He was NTU's University Librarian from 2002 to 2008, and has been the Director of the Research Center for Digital Humanities since 2008.
