Title: Egypt's Efforts towards Achieving UN SDGs

Speaker: Prof. Mona Gamal Eldin Ibrahim

Mona Gamal Eldin Ibrahim is Professor of Environmental Engineering, Dean of School of Energy Resources, Environmental, and Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering (EECE), Egypt - Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), and Head of the E-JUST Sustainable Development Committee.

Abstract:

The session will talk about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) mentioning Egypt's vision 2030 and the done efforts achieving the SDGs. AGENDA 2063 is Africa's master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future within a 50 year period. Egypt launched many initiatives to improve the citizens' life before and after COVID 19. The session will also cover E-JUST Achievements including the conducted research work towards SDGs.

Co-organized by the Center for Japanese Studies (CJS), University of California, Berkeley, and the Art Research Center (ARC), Ritsumeikan University, a joint colloquium was held at Dwinelle Hall, University of California, Berkeley on September 15, 2023.

Under the theme Theory and Methods in the Japanese Humanities: Research Using Visual Sources and Archives, faculty and graduate students from the Center for Japanese Studies (CJS) and the Art Research Center (ARC) delivered presentations on the use of visual sources and archives in their research. While discussing the specific content of their respective research projects, the presenters discussed and exchanged research methods, approaches, and techniques for employing visual sources and archives.

The online exhibition 'The Three Kingdoms: The Fellowship of the Water Fishes' is held from February 14 to March 31. As part of this exhibition, we invite you to join our online lecture on March 21, 2022 (free of charge).

The lecture will be given by Prof. Isao Umebayashi (Shitennoji University) whose research project 'Collection and Preservation of Traditional Games from around the world, the Systematization and the Study of Cultural Relevance of them' is among the FY 2021 adopted joint research projects of the International Joint Digital Archiving Center for Japanese Art and Culture (ARC-iJAC). 

Furthermore, Prof. Akinori Nakamura (College of Image Arts and Sciences, Ritsumeikan University) and Prof. Koichi Hosoi (College of Image Arts and Sciences, Ritsumeikan University), will be presenting their research findings from the Program for Supporting Research Center Formation, Art Research Center, Ritsumeikan University.
