The international collaborative research project "Comprehensive Study of Arts and Culture within 'Ie' in East Asia", adopted by ARC-iJAC, will host a public workshop titled "Arts in the Home and Familial Succession in the Arts" in collaboration with the Institute for Art History at Freie Universität Berlin.
In the Sinitic cultural sphere of East Asia, the concept of Ie--encompassing dwelling, family, lineage, and family business--has long served as both a social and cultural framework. Within this context, the workshop will present and discuss nine research findings that explore specific case studies in painting, ceramics, tea ceremony, funerary practices, and the familial institutions that sustain these artistic traditions.
