Artist:
Kido-ban are theater staffs who line up in front of entrance to tout and sell tickets. They often cover up their head and cheeks by towel and wear long jacket called Haori. This Haori was prepared by Tachi Onnagata, who is the leader of Onnagata, and usually the crest of the actor was printed on. The towel and folding fan were prepared by the leader of troupe, so everyone can easily know who the leader of troupe is by looking a crest printed on them as well. After the Meiji period, it was no more their job to tout, but they were in charge of the gateway.
