1669年にオランダで出版されたモンタヌスの『日本史』という本の見開き図版で江戸の町の様子を描いたものである。これは、翌１６７０年に出版された英語版の図版なので、左右両端に英語での注釈が付されている。

This two-page engraving of the city of Edo (present-day Tokyo) first appeared in 1669 in the Dutch version of Arnoldus Montanus' publication about Japan, Atlas Japannensis. This version was published the following year in London, and a key to the sixty-two points of interest has been added in English in the top right- and left-hand corners.
