Chū-no-mai (中之舞) is a shōdan of the hayashigoto musical type. Chū-no-mai is a medium length instrumental dance performed by shite or shite-tsure in a moderate tempo, usually formed by an introduction (kakari) and three sections (shodan, nidan, sandan). The dance can be performed with or without the taiko stick drum. [DP]
