Have you ever wondered how our society works in a flawless, smooth manner? How is it possible for such a complex institution as our society to work smoothly, despite there being differences of opinions and other such problems?. In a society, there is a need for every professional: a doctor, an engineer, the law enforcement officers and others. We all have to work day in and day out to ensure that other parts of the ecosystem work smooth.
If even a single cog in the wheel doesn’t function properly, the entire system crashes. Thus, everyone - even those with the most tedious, the most boring and the most dangerous jobs - have to be on their toes all the time. This includes people like security guards, firefighters etc.
Firefighters have probably the toughest job of them all. In fact, they have a dangerous job more than a tough one. They risk their own lives to save the lives (and assets) of others. If they are not competent, a good part of the world would always be on fire due to a whole host of reasons.
Firefighting is a difficult job, something that asks for a lot. For one, you have to be extremely fit, both mentally and physically. In almost all countries, there is a set period for training. That is about 6-12 months most of the time. No matter how much you try to replicate it, real situation - one where you have to work with real fire - can’t be replicated.
The salary of a firefighter varies a lot, depending on the country and the rank. In the United States, the salary of a firefighter is about forty thousand dollars. After a few years of experience, he can earn above $75,000. Needless to say, someone who has an experience of 15-20 years and is ranked higher will get paid a lot more.
As you can see, a firefighter’s salary isn’t fixed. In fact, it’ll differ a lot more if you take into account different countries and different economies. In third world countries, the salaries of a typical firefighter would be much lower than what it would be in developed economies.
Other than the salary, there are other benefits that a firefighter can avail of. Keeping aside the salaries, there are other important aspects of being a firefighter. It requires immense mental strength as well as physical agility. It’s your duty to ensure that your body is capable of bearing such a load.
