Honda Accord: A history - Ideal Engines
In 1976 the Honda car company released its first version from the Honda Accord.The very first generation was released as a three door hatch back model and ran from 1976 through 1981. The car itself was slightly larger than the Honda civic and was aimed at individuals who wanted a mid sized vehicle with good gas mileage.This was the very first Japanese smaller vehicle equipped with features such as a tachometer, intermittent wipers, an am/fm radio and cloth seats as standard equipment.
In 1982 Honda released the 2nd generation Accord. This generation ran from 1982-1985 coupled with a more modernized interior and exterior when compared to earlier models. The 3rd generation of the Accord came in 1986 and ran till 1989. This generation saw a revamp of the exterior design taking key traits from the Honda Prelude like flip up headlamps, along with a stylised rear tail light cluster design. This generation was the first to incorporate a double wishbone suspension both in the leading and rear of the vehicle offering four wheel independent suspension which greatly improved stability and handling while driving.
The fourth generation from the Accord was brought into the fall into line in 1990 and ran until 1993. This generation was bigger than previous offerings and incorporated interior and exterior design changes to make the automobile look and feel sleeker than previous offerings.
The 5th generation of the Accord was released in 1994 and ran until 1997. The set of revisions with this model change included more rounded bumpers, modified front fascia and new signal lights in front and rear to give the vehicle a softer feel and look.
The sixth generation from the Accord was released in 1997 and ran till 2002. The Accord was now available in both standard models and new performance versions as well offering new engines, alloy wheels as well as an assortment of other inclusions in add flash and elegance to an otherwise subdued vehicle.
