Two-Dimensional Expression Centered on Drawing and Woodblock Printmaking

【自己紹介文 Short bio】
私は主に木版画とドローイングを中心に制作を行っています。ドローイングというよりも、授業中にノートや教科書の空いているスペースに落書きをするような感覚に近いものです。見返すと何を描いていたのかは分からないけれど、一番楽に絵が描けているように感じます。そういった落書きを版木に転写させて、彫刻刀で彫っていきます。彫り終えた版木を和紙に摺ると、鉛筆の線が木版画の線になった落書きになっています。完成してしばらく眺めていると、自分が何を描きたかったのかがようやく分かったりします。その瞬間が、制作をするうえで一番重要であり幸せでもあります。

My work primarily focuses on woodblock printmaking and drawing. Rather than formal drawing, my approach is closer to doodling in the margins of notebooks or textbooks during class. Looking back, I may not always remember what I was drawing, but it feels like the most natural and effortless way for me to create. I transfer these doodles onto woodblocks and carve them with chisels. When the carved blocks are printed on washi, the pencil lines transform into woodblock lines, creating a unique "doodle" in print form. After some time of observing the finished work, I often finally understand what I was trying to express. That moment is both the most important and the happiest part of my creative process.
