【自己紹介文 Short bio】
Kate MacDonagh is a Sligo born Artist where she works from her studio at The Model in Sligo, Ireland.  She studied at Limerick School of Art and Design, Bellas Artes Madrid, Spain, Bob Blackburn Printmaking Studio, New York,  MI-LAB, Fujikawaguchiko, Japan. Kate is a member of Graphic Studio, Dublin, Ireland, and  an Associate Member of Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers, London. She is also a member of the Mokuhanga Sisters Global Collective.

ケイト・マクドナはアイルランド・スライゴ出身のアーティストで、同地にある「ザ・モデル」内のスタジオを拠点に活動しています。リメリック美術デザイン学校、スペイン・マドリードのベラス・アルテス、ニューヨークのボブ・ブラックバーン版画スタジオ、そして日本・富士河口湖のMI-LABで学びました。現在、アイルランド・ダブリンのグラフィック・スタジオ会員、ロンドンの王立版画家協会（Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers）準会員であり、またモクハンガ・シスターズ・グローバル・コレクティブのメンバーでもあります。

Ballinglen Art Foundation Museum, Ireland and Tipperary County Museum, Clonmel, Ireland and Zagorje Museum,  Slovenia.

彼女の作品は、アイルランド公共事業庁（Office of Public Works）、米国セント・ローレンス大学リチャード・F・ブラッシュ美術館、アイルランドおよび日本の外務省、ダン・レアリー＝ラスダウン郡議会、バリンゲン・アート・ファウンデーション美術館（アイルランド）、ティペラリー郡博物館（クロンメル）、およびスロベニアのザゴリエ博物館など、公共・民間のコレクションに収蔵されています。

She is recipient of numerous awards and residencies including: Biennial Award, Ballinglen Arts Foundation. Graphic Studio Wilkinson Award, RHA Annual Exhibition Dublin. Ireland. Centre Cultural Irlandais, Paris, France.  The Model Sligo, Ireland. MI-LAB Artist Residency , Japan. Colony of Painters,  Islake, Slovenia. Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Mayo, Ireland.

受賞歴およびレジデンシーには、バリンゲン・アート・ファウンデーション ビエンナーレ賞、RHA年次展ダブリンでのグラフィック・スタジオ・ウィルキンソン賞、パリのイルランド文化センター（Centre Culturel Irlandais）、スライゴのザ・モデル、MI-LABアーティスト・レジデンシー（日本）、スロベニア・イスレイクのコロニー・オブ・ペインターズ、アイルランド・メイヨーのバリンゲン・アート・ファウンデーションなどがあります。

Artist Statement（アーティストステートメント）：

Kate MacDonagh is an Abstract Artist whose work explores dualities of light and dark, scale and ephemerality, stillness and movement, the spectral and the material. Since spending a considerable amount of time in Japan over the past decade, Kate's primary focus is on Mokuhanga- Waterbased Woodcut. From carving blocks to making prints, the carvings have become objects in themselves. It is important to her to work with sustainable materials. Mokuhanga, because of its sensuous, meditative qualities it is a slow , quiet process. The dialogue with the materials is an essential element of both the process and the outcome

ケイト・マクドナは抽象表現を主とするアーティストであり、光と闇、スケールと儚さ、静と動、幽玄と物質性といった二元性を探求しています。過去10年にわたり日本で長期間滞在してきたことから、現在は主に水性木版画に焦点を当てています。版木の彫刻から刷りまでの一連の工程を通じて、版木（彫り？）そのものも作品としての存在を帯びていきます。持続可能な素材を用いることを重視し、木版画は感覚的で瞑想的な性質を持つ、静かでゆったりとした制作プロセスです。素材との対話こそが、制作過程および作品そのものにおける本質的な要素となっています。
