Water is dripping constantly in the rag that you have wrapped around the pin hole within the water pipe. Let's see how easy it is to repair that dripping and give you reassurance. With some of the fantastic improvements in plumbing fittings within the last couple of years, plumbing repair has been manufactured very simple.

Many leaks come from just a few things. The pin hole in the copper pipe that is caused by pitting inside the pipe. Usually this really is caused by poor water quality. The inside of the pipe flakes off and away to cause a hole within the pipe that eventually gets right through to the exterior. These often receive away by the green spot that usually sometimes appears on the outside of the copper pipe first. This is brought on by mineral left by the water evaporating from the top of the pipe. So in all reality there's a leak before there is a leak. The other main problem may be the joining of two dissimilar kinds of pipes. Copper and PVC or Copper and Pex are two examples. The expansion rate of these two various kinds of materials is very different. This will cause friction and constant movement in which the two meet. This movement eventually will cause enough of a gap to allow water to leak out.

Until recently there where many redneck fixes available most involving garden hoses, inner tubes, hose clamps, epoxy, and several other creative fixes. I've come across way too many to explain these. Now there is a great way to fix those leaks having a simple push fitting. The brand new style of the push fitting allows for the pipe to become cut at the hole after which a coupling just pushed to the pipe to fix the leak. The hardest area of the whole process is to buy the pipe cut neatly. The same fitting may also be used to replace those pesky plastic to copper unions that always seem to give trouble. Joining different types of piping is no longer a problem.

By doing a quick look for push fitting you'll find a variety of suppliers of this type of fitting. I have tried personally a number of different ones plus they all appear to work well. My preference is the brass types because they appear to be much more rugged in construction. The buying price of those fittings also reflects that. The most typical that I have experienced and used would be the Sharkbite Brand. These are very good, can be purchased in lots of plumbing supply houses, as well as in Home Depot Stores. Other companies include Watts, Probite, Tectite, and Speedfit. I know that I've left some out. These are some that i'm familiar with and also have used.

Final point here is that it's now super easy for even a desk jockey to repair his own pipes. Pass the closet home improvement center on your way home. Pick up a few of these fittings and impress the wife with talents that she would never know you had. Watch out brave and do that small plumbing project that they continues to be begging for. Now you can use these fittings to chop into that water line to operate that new outside faucet or hookup that water filtration yourself. With the push type fitting plumbing has been made simple for anybody to be able to do it.
