Hatarakigoto

In noh, hatarakigoto defines a group of shōdan of the hayashigoto musical type.

Hatarakigoto shōdan include dances with mimetic action, such as the shouldering of the burden in Yamanba, or pulling the boat in Iwafune, or express the state of mind of a character, as in the kakeri performed in madness plays. Other types of hatarakigoto include maibataraki, inori, ranbyōshi, and tachimawari.
