1980年代後半に起こったGIS革命からほぼ20年が経過しました。
世界のGISを推進してきた著名な人々に、地理情報システム・地理情報科学の最新の動向を紹介してもらいます。
Since the GIS revolution in the late 1980s, about twenty years have passed over.
In this Symposium the new trends of Geographic Information Systems and Geographic Information Science are introduced
by the distinguished GIScientists from Japan, Korea, the UK and the US.

- 岡部篤行 教授（青山学院大学、日本） Professor Atsuyuki Okabe (Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo)
- 1975年 ペンシルバニア大学大学院博士課程修了（Ph.D.）。
1977年 東京大学大学院博士課程修了（工学博士）。
1990年より東京大学大学院工学研究科教授（都市工学専攻）。2009年より現職。
東京大学空間情報科学研究センター所長、地理情報システム学会副会長・会長を歴任。日本学術会議会員。

- 1989年大阪大学大学院博士課程修了（工学博士）。
1991年より韓国忠北大学校工学部教授。
2009年より韓国忠北大学校工学部長。
Korean Assoc. of Geographic Information Studies （KAGIS）会長、Korean Wetlands Society（KWS）副会長。Certificate of commendation, Prime Minister, S. Korea. （2009）、Certificate of commendation, Ministry of environment, S. Korea. （2007）などを受賞。
- Michael Batty 教授（ユニバーシティー・カレッジ・ロンドン、英国） Professor Michael Batty (Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, University College London, UK)
- Bartlett Professor of Planning at University College London where he directs the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA).
Previously (1990-1995) he was Director of the NSF National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NCGIA) in the State University of New York at Buffalo and from 1979 until 1990, he was Professor of City and Regional Planning in the University Cardiff.
His research work involves the development computer model of cities and regions, and he has published many books and articles in this area, the most recent being Cities and Complexity (MIT Press, Cambridge, MA, 2005). He is editor of the Journal Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design. He was made a Fellow of the British Academy in 2001, awarded a CBE in June 2004 and elected as Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2009.
- Michael Goodchild 教授（カリフォルニア大学サンタバーバラ校、米国） Professor Michael Goodchild (University of California, Santa Barbara, USA)
- Professor of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Director of spatial@ucsb.
He was elected member of the National Academy of Sciences and Foreign Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2002, and member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2006, and in 2007 he receive the Prix Vautrin Lud.
He serves on the editorial boards of eleven journals and book series, and has published over 15 books and 400 articles. His current research interests center on geographic information science, spatial analysis, and uncertainly in geographic data.
