のうし 直衣
The nōshi is a broad-sleeved (ōsode) noh costume adapted from a formal court costume. Like the kariginu 狩衣, it has a round collar and overlapping front panels, but can be distinguished by the cloth bands at the hem joining the front panels to the back panel. The nōshi is worn by courtiers performing a long instrumental dance and can be either lined (awase) or unlined (hitoe).
