A1.2 Looking at jinbutsu gafu
-
-
Yamato jimbutsu gafu presents a multi-faceted picture of a nation at peace. It is a world without violence, suffering, or pain. Each individual plays his or her appointed role in an orderly manner. Life proceeds harmoniously. The only disorder we see is good-natured drunkenness among friends returning from cherry-blossom viewing. The ordinary, the everyday is presented as something worthy of contemplation. What we encounter in this book is akin to the joy writers of haibun found in the small details of daily life.
