Research activities: Overview and implications: I spent the grant for some References text books for Japanese Book Printed in Edo’s period, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard software for developing high quality image for presentation, and External Hard Disk Drive for data storage.

Progress and effects in your overall research plan and objectives: I made the Poster presentation at 10th IAPR International Workshop on Document Analysis Systems, and participation in joint workshop, held with IAPR and Griffith University, Australia during March 27-29th, 2012 in the title of “Character Segmentation for Japanese Woodblock Printed Historical Books”. I had a good opportunity for discussion with other researchers in document image analysis field in order to make an improvement of the research.
