助成執行概要とその効果:
Currently, I am creating metadata for the Arendie and Henk Herwig Collection of yakusha-e and adding this information to the Ritsumeikan University Ukiyo-e database. The electronic dictionary will enable me to make more accurate Japanese and English transcriptions of the Japanese characters and texts that appear on these prints. This database is the most complete record of surviving Ukiyo-e prints in the world and it is a vital resource to academics and scholars who work in this field.
申請書記載の計画・目標に対する進捗状況:
This research activity is training me to accurately interpret ukiyo-e prints. The information that I am entering onto the Ritsumeikan Ukiyo-e database will support and contribute to my independent research into late Edo period yakusha-e.
